Leiden, 17 September – Today at exactly 12 noon, Prince Floris van Oranje gave the starting signal for the 4th edition of the Rapenburg Race. He did this together with Annetje Ottow, chair of the Executive Board of Leiden University. A group of spinal cord injury patients then kicked off the 800-metre swim through the Rapenburg in Leiden. More than 750 other enthusiastic and involved swimmers followed them in various heats to raise money for scientific research into better spinal cord injury treatment. Money also goes to projects aimed at improving the quality of life of spinal cord injury patients.
More than 117.000 euro was raised this year!
Aswell as the journalistic photography, my photo's were and will be used for marketing purposes for next years race. That's also why I asked to cultivate and enhance the feeling of any visitors during this event. The organisers were enthausiastic with the end results, and invited me for the next event additionally.
